Its the age old question, whats better to better for my house, ye old classic wooden door or the mighty modern UPVC Door?

Wooden Door: A wooden door requires sanding and painting every few years or it will eventually become victim to moisture and begin to swell up and require sanding.
If looked after, it can last a life time.
If not looked after, it can go down hill pretty quick.
On the plus side, if you scratch a wooden door, you can simply use a bit of filler and paint to go over the scratch or dig.

Did you know that if you have home insurance, then it is very likely that somewhere in your insurers terms and conditions, they have probably specified that you should have an insurance approved lock fitted to every external door leading into your home - Front and back!
Also, your windows should have key operated locks too.
And if you do not satisfy these requirements, then in the unfortunate event of a burglary, your insurance will be void and you will not be refunded for any contents that are damaged or stolen.

You are ten times more likely to be burgled if you don't have basic security - even something as simple as putting strong locks on doors and windows will keep your house much safer.
The cylinder on a UPVC Door that you operate with your key is otherwise known as a Euro Profile Cylinder and should be fitted into the door so that there is no more than 5mm maximum sticking out either side of your handles.
This not only looks better appearance wise but makes the door more secure and less vulnerable to burglary.
